Hello all,
There is an opportunity for voluntary internship at Prof. Rohini
Balakrishnan's lab in Centre for Ecological Sciences,IISc. It revolves
around an interesting mating system in katydids(family: Tettigoniidae,an
insect group that belongs to the same suborder Ensifera that crickets
belong to) wherein the males and the females communicate with each other
using different signal modalities i.e.the males communicate with the
females using sound signals but females communicate back using vibratory
signals.The internship would involve behavioral observations for
understanding certain aspects of this mating system for a duration of 6
months from December 2017 to May 2018.
The work will be conducted inside the Indian Institute of
Science campus during the evenings from 1930 to 1130 hrs. Interested
volunteers can write back to me alongwith their CVs at

will not be covered in this internship.
