ADVERTISEMENT FOR ONE PROJECT ASSISTANT POSITION
One Project Assistant position is available in a SERB (Science and
Engineering Research Board, Department of Science and Technology,
Government of India) - funded project in my lab at the Evolutionary
and Integrative Biology Unit, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced
Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bengaluru.
The selected Project Assistant will work on a field project on
behaviour and reproductive success of elephants in the Kabini Elephant
Population, southern India. They will be based in the field, and
collect data on individual identification of elephants, behaviour,
etc. Prior field experience and excellent observational skills are
required, as is physical fitness, as the job demands long hours in the
field. The selected person should be willing to live at the field
site, where only basic facilities are available, and should preferably
be able to drive (a four-wheeler). They should know or be willing to
learn to converse in Kannada. The ideal applicant will also be
familiar with basic statistics and possess good analytical and writing
skills.
Applicants for the Project Assistant position should have a masters’
degree in a relevant field. The salary will be based on the standard
scale approved by JNCASR and SERB. The position is potentially tenable
for about two years and successful applicants are expected to give a
1-year commitment to working on this project. Please apply with a
