Ecological restoration

-green-energy-private-limited), is looking for "Programme Officers -
Research" on a full-time basis, to work on the eco-restoration of its
60-acre eco-village project site in Udaipur region, Rajasthan.
Scope of work will involve the following:
1. Collect seeds and planting materials from local and non-local nurseries,
reserve forests and other sources and further build existing nursery on site
2. Develop planting plans as per the native vegetation palette developed,
various ecological zones to be developed on site as well as site conditions
3. Organise and implement planting on site as per the planting plans
4. Extend ecological restoration done on the site to restoration of barren
private and common lands such as schools, forests, farms etc in
participation with children, farmers, pastoralists and other interested
stakeholders
Requirements - The Applicant must:
1. Be interested in ecological restoration
2. Have academic background (Masters) OR atleast 2 years on-ground work
experience in Botany, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Studies/Sciences or
related fields
3. Be willing to travel across Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh
4. Be willing to work outdoors
5. Must know to speak, read and write in Hindi and English
Place of stay will be at Sakroda, Udaipur, Rajasthan.
Duration of appointment will be atleast 2 years, with a 3-month probation
period.
Pay will be atleast Rs. 15000-20000/- per month, based on background and
experience.

Interviews will be held on the site before May 15th, 2023. Date of joining
work will be 1st June 2023.
Work done so far with help of 2 interns (now employees) from Botany and
Environmental Studies background, recruited through YETI in Jun 2022, over
the last 1 year:
1. 32 nurseries surveyed in Udaipur district, and 10 villages surveyed
within a 10 km radius of the site. All plants including herbs and grasses
documented on site, all major forests surveyed within Udaipur as well as
Pali, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand and Jalore districts. Till now, about 150
species have been identified and enlisted to plant on site. Goal is to
reach 300 species over the next 2 years.
2. 10000 running feet of trenches made in hills and 22 gully plugs across
streams to conserve soil and moisture. Grass cover was retained on site,
and invasive vegetation particularly Prosopis and Parthenium was removed.
Two existing open wells were deepened on site. Goal is for 5 ponds to be
built and few more open wells to be made based on hydrogeological
investigation in the next 2 years. No borewells or deep wells will be
drilled in principle.
3. Set up a nursery and gathered about 9000 plant saplings of 75 species
(trees, shrubs, climbers) from which 2500 plants were planted in the last
monsoon.
4. Community outreach initiated: Collaborated with nearby school children,
organised tours of the site, nursery and discussions, to understand
biodiversity and ecological restoration. Goal is to expand outreach to all
adjacent schools in the coming 2 years.
