Urgent - Looking for Research Analyst for Energy & Resources

The Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) is an
independent,not-for-profit policy research institution. CEEW addresses
pressing global challenges through an integrated and internationally
focused approach. It does so through high quality research, partnerships
with public and private institutions, and engagement with and outreach to
the wider public. Among its major initiatives, CEEW has: published the
584-page National Water Resources Framework Study for India's 12th Five
Year Plan; written India's first report on global governance, submitted to
the National Security Adviser; assessed India's 22 gigawatt solar mission;
developed an innovation ecosystem framework for India; facilitated the $100
million India-U.S. Joint Clean Energy R&D Centre; worked on geoengineering
governance (with UK's Royal Society and the IPCC); created the
Maharashtra-Guangdong partnership on sustainability; published research on
energy-trade-climate linkages (including on governing clean energy
subsidies for Rio+20); produced comprehensive reports and briefed
negotiators on climate finance; and supported Bihar with minor irrigation
reform and for water-climate adaptation frameworks.

Job Location:  New Delhi

Job Description:  Research

• Conduct both traditional and online secondary research using various
external sources including international data sets.

• Collecting data and preparing database on coal, oil and gas, iron ore,
and other critical mineral resources from different sources.

• Responsible for reviewing large amounts of data and analysing the
information using a variety of software tools and methodologies.

• Undertaking basic modelling exercises to outline alternative scenarios
for resource efficiency and security for India.

• Writing briefs and issue notes which could be circulated among senior
Government of India officials.

• Travel to project sites, when necessary, to conduct interviews or collect
data for different research projects.

• Assist in developing surveys and questionnaires and help with collecting,
collating and analysing responses.

• Depending on the candidate’s skills, work with other team members on
conceptualizing new projects.

• Provide content for organisation’s web pages, blogs, policy briefs etc.



Project/programme assistance



• Assist with project implementation, including help with preparing
presentations and advocacy material

• Prepare notes and briefs for the roundtables on energy and resources
security that CEEW will be organising during September 2012 to March 2013.
Assist with the organization of the roundtables.

• Support efforts to use new media platforms for wide dissemination of
CEEW’s work and, in turn, closer engagement with the wider community

• Respond to research requests from programme officers, discuss research
needs, and prepare responses that synthesise and analyse information.

• Contribute to reports and other research products as part of the research
team.

• Participate in weekly team meetings and assist with preparing minutes

• Accompany team members for meetings with other stakeholders; prepare
minutes of the meetings and assist with relevant follow up.

Functional Area:  Science / Research Development

• Self-starters with strong quantitative skills, including proven skills
with Excel

• GIS and other mapping skills desirable

• Willingness to explore different data sources from within and outside
India

• Willingness to engage with government officials and industry
representatives

• Skills in managing new technologies and media platforms

exciting work environment

• Flexibility towards long work hours, especially when major deadlines and
events are approaching

• Ability to work with people in different time zones.

Candidate Requirement

Education



• Undergraduate/Master’s-level degree in engineering, economics, finance,
natural sciences, or equivalent qualification relevant to the role.

• Strong research background necessary, with very strong quantitative
skills.

• Published papers desirable



Business experience

• Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience

• Strong track record of project assistance and timely delivery of outputs

• Experience in dealing with public and private institutions.

Qualification:  M.Sc - M.Tech(Environmental science)

Compensation Details

Salary:  2.00 Lakh to 3.50 Lakh (Indian Rupees) per annum

There would be only fixed in hand salary per month, there is no PF.
