Research Analyst - Energy & Resources Job Code: RA - Energy & Resources Job Location: New Delhi Job Description: Research • Conduct both traditional and online secondary research using various external sources including international data sets. • Collecting data and preparing database on coal, oil and gas, iron ore, and other critical mineral resources from different sources. • Responsible for reviewing large amounts of data and analysing the information using a variety of software tools and methodologies. • Undertaking basic modelling exercises to outline alternative scenarios for resource efficiency and security for India. • Writing briefs and issue notes which could be circulated among senior Government of India officials. • Travel to project sites, when necessary, to conduct interviews or collect data for different research projects. • Assist in developing surveys and questionnaires and help with collecting, collating and analysing responses. • Depending on the candidate’s skills, work with other team members on conceptualizing new projects. • Provide content for organisation’s web pages, blogs, policy briefs etc. Project/programme assistance • Assist with project implementation, including help with preparing presentations and advocacy material • Prepare notes and briefs for the roundtables on energy and resources security that CEEW will be organising during September 2012 to March 2013. Assist with the organization of the roundtables. • Support efforts to use new media platforms for wide dissemination of CEEW’s work and, in turn, closer engagement with the wider community • Respond to research requests from programme officers, discuss research needs, and prepare responses that synthesise and analyse information. • Contribute to reports and other research products as part of the research team. • Participate in weekly team meetings and assist with preparing minutes • Accompany team members for meetings with other stakeholders; prepare minutes of the meetings and assist with relevant follow up. Candidate Requirement Education • Undergraduate/Master’s-level degree in engineering, economics, finance, natural sciences, or equivalent qualification relevant to the role. • Strong research background necessary, with very strong quantitative skills. • Published papers desirable Business experience • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience • Strong track record of project assistance and timely delivery of outputs • Experience in dealing with public and private institutions.
