These landscapes are – Terai Arc Landscape (TAL) spread across Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar; North Bank Landscape (NBL) spread across Assam and Arunachal Pradesh; Kaziranga Karbi Anglong Landscape(KKL) in Assam; Western Arunachal Landscape (WAL) in Arunachal Pradesh; Khangchendzonga Landscape (KCL) spread across Sikkim and northern parts of West Bengal; Sunderbans in West Bengal; Central Indian Satpuda Maikal Landscape (SML) spread across Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Chattisgarh; Western Ghats Nilgiris Landscape (WGL) spread across Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka, and the Western India Landscape (Ranthambore). The focus species are tiger, elephant, rhino, red panda, black-necked crane, snow leopard, Asiatic black bear and Nilgiri tahr, depending on the region. Our field teams in the landscapes above, have been working on monitoring these species, assessing their habitat and on-ground conservation activities including managing conflict, increasing protection and engaging with local communities. Applications are invited from trained wildlife biologists, to work as Senior Project Officers – Tiger Conservation, one in each of the six landscapes, namely the TAL(U.P & Uttarakhand), SML (Mandla), KKL(Kaziranga), NBL(Tezpur), Ranthambhore and Sunderbans. All six incumbents shall work on monitoring tigers, co-predators and their prey species in their designated landscapes and assist the respective Landscape Coordinators in all related programmatic work. Location: WWF India offices at landscapes stated above. Extensive travel within the landscapes will be involved. The Job Profile: 1. Programme Implementation and Technical Support • Prepare a comprehensive plan for monitoring tigers, co-predators and prey base in the tiger habitats and corridors within the landscape, in collaboration with the landscape team members and the WWF India Coordinator-Tiger Conservation. • Carry out the tiger monitoring work as per the approved plan under supervision of the Coordinator – Tiger Conservation and the Landscape Coordinator in different parts of the landscape. • Analyze data and report preparation with conservation recommendations, and assist the State Forest Department in implementing the recommendations for tiger conservation. 2. Programme Development • To assist the team for developing and submitting project proposals for tiger conservation in the landscape. • To develop synergy among the different tiger conservation projects in the particular landscape and other landscapes. 3. Networking, Coordination and Communication • Maintain close coordination with the State Forest Department, other institutions and like-minded organizations/persons in various regions for WWF-India’s species conservation work. Qualifications, Experience and competencies required: 1. M.Sc. in Wildlife Biology/ Biosciences with minimum two years field experience in monitoring wildlife populations, however candidates with more experience will be preferred. 2. Proven experience of field work in monitoring wildlife populations, especially tiger, co-predator and prey species using camera-trapping and line-transect methods. 3. Superb Data analysis and report writing skills. 4. Excellent communication, presentation and liaisoning skills.
