Hi,
We are looking for an intern to assist on a project looking at the effects of
landscape change on understory birds in the shola sky islands of the Nilgiris.
The project is part of a collaborative project between IISER Tirupati and Sálim
Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History.
Opportunities:
- Explore the Nilgiris landscape
- See some rare and endemic Western Ghats bird species
- Learn field techniques and survey methods
The duration of the project is 4-5 months starting from December 2019.
Key responsibilities: The intern will be expected to help with bird surveys and
vegetation sampling.
Essential requirements: The candidate must have a valid two-wheeler driver's
license (and experience riding). Fieldwork will be intense and the candidate
must be able to handle harsh field conditions and be willing to share camp
responsibilities including cooking.
Remuneration: The candidate will receive a stipend of Rs. 9,000 per month.
Accommodation and food will be taken care of.
