I get perfect indoor ATSC reception from 50 miles away with a quad bowtie in a window for one station, a 1 MW one on a modest (well sub-1000 foot) tower. I get perfect ATSC reception from 68 miles away with an indoor 15 element Yagi, at about 500 kW and a 1300 foot tower, for a different station. Both stations are "frequently" gotten with a double bowtie antenna, indoors, but most certainly are not "reliable". The difference between a double and a quad bowtie is large, for some reason. I suspect that perfect ATSC reception at 52 miles with an indoor (2nd floor) antenna would be a commonplace in Kansas, where 2000 foot towers are common. These are all UHF channels of course.
