For my friends and colleagues on this E-mail list: This is not TV business, but since TV has taken me away from my wife for so many business trips, I thought some of you would like to know. My wife Betsy passed gently Monday afternoon. Her obituary will be in the Washington Post Wednesday morning. Here are her details: Betsy Driskill Long Betsy Driskill Long, 47, cherished and beloved wife of Stephen W. Long, passed away quietly on February 6, 2006. Betsy is also survived by her mother, Dorothy Dancy Driskill of Lynchburg, VA., her brother Alec E. Driskill of Albrightsville, PA, her niece Catherine E. Driskill and nephew Alec 'Ike' E. Driskill II, both of Rehoboth Beach Delaware. Betsy was born and raised in Lynchburg, VA, the daughter of Alec 'Buck" Driskill and Dorothy Driskill. Betsy graduated from Lynchburg College in 1981 with a degree in Natural History. After college, Betsy worked briefly at the Norfolk Naval Supply Center, Norfolk VA. Betsy married Stephen in 1983 and they made their home in Northern Virginia. They moved to Herndon in the summer of 1988. She worked for Burroughs (SDC) / UNISYS as a Sr. Systems Analyst for 17 years until 2000. Betsy was a lifelong member of the Christian Church - Disciples of Christ. She was active in Outreach Ministry, Music, Women's Circle and loved handbell music. In her youth Betsy played the piano and the flute. Betsy loved nature and all of God's works, and enjoyed extensive travel with her husband around the USA in 2004 and 2005. Betsy was an angel loaned to us by God to make the world a kinder place. She was called home early to serve God in a new way. All that knew her will miss her shy smile. Visitation will be at the family home in Herndon on Wednesday February 8th and Thursday the 9th from 6-9 p.m. each evening. The memorial service will be held on Saturday February 11th at 2 p.m. at Springfield Christian Church, 5407 Backlick Rd., Springfield VA. 22151. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Betsy D.
