Several, actually. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Full-frame_digital_SLR Obviously not consumer grade digital still cameras in 1991, although the concept of cheap but excellent lenses could not have been missed back then either. It's no mystery that 35mm SLRs of the day could extract resolution on film that was more than adequate for the HDTV formats they were considering back then. The Pop Photo articles I've read on these "full frame" DSLRs rarely if ever talk about the image quality advantage of moving the pixels further apart in the sensor. Mostly, they like full frame DSLRs because 35mm camera wide angle lenses retain their full wide angle potential when used in these DSLRs. In a digital camcorder, this could be called "digital VistaVision."
