[opendtv] DTV Software Tuner Standards was: Re: FCC's stringent digital TV tuner standards

Now if only they would extend that thought process to the driver side of 
PCTV tuner boards.

Too many card manufacturers are either charging for information (up to 
$2k!) or locking their directshow drivers to their cards so no 3rd party 
can use them. This means one cannot add functionality to certain cards 
like the FusionHDTV.

The amount of spaghetti code (even in SDKs) and bad drivers (memory 
leaks, directshow bugs, system lockups) also floors me.

Why do these factors not get any attention anywhere? This is as 
important as the hardware standards.
