Now you know why I will never do business with the satellite, cable or glass distribution companies. Ever.

BS. If they can change the encryption from a remote location, they can also 
block the unencrypted content from that remote location.

At the same time, we recognize that this rule change will adversely
affect a small number of cable subscribers who currently view the
digital basic service tier without using a set-top box or other
equipment.

And renders useless such perfectly good third party products as Windows Media 
Center.

As usual, the MVPDs screw up a good thing. The only motivation is to rent out 
their otherwise useless boxes.
