If you dig a little deeper you will notice that Quicktime has some
bidirectional dependencies with iTunes, for a better 'user experience'.

"Apple Lossless Encoder
With QuickTime 6.5.1 and later, you can create and play back Apple
Lossless audio. This new lossless audio codec retains the full quality
of uncompressed CD audio while requiring only about half the storage
space. Apple Lossless Encoder can be used for importing music from CDs
in iTunes."

I have always found Quicktime to be a real dog on windows. Almost as big
a dog as windows media player, but not quite.

Also, when will the Quicktime player developers OBSERVE THE USER
INTERFACE GUIDELINES ON WINDOWS? Enough of the crappy brushed metal look
already.

Cheers
