Note 2002 copyright date for Digital Stream HD1150 manual is fairly old. The pdf file's "Document Properties" says it was created (updated?) Jun2003. Also note button positions are different and there is no DVI/HDMI port. This seems to be a model that is about a year earlier than the Accurian. The newer Digital Stream model is the HD3150, which I see is no longer on their website but can now be found on the Pro Brand International website: http://www.eagleaspen.com/products/products_1.php?id=44 http://www.eagleaspen.com/admin/download/fujian/file_53.pdf Except for absence of HDMI port, the HD3150 manual is page-for-page same as manual for Accurian. The rear panel is identical (except for omission of HDMI port) and front panel is almost identical. The Owner's Manual for HD3150 model does not have a copyright date, but pdf file "Document Properties" say it was created Jul2004. The LATEST model appears to be the Pro Brand HD3150PLUS ($230), which adds an HDMI port and has replaced the HD3150 at Circuit City: http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/productDetailReview.do?oid=136560&com.broadvision.session.new=Yes&BV_UseBVCookie=No Unfortunately, the Pro Brand website has not been updated to include the "PLUS". It is probably the closest to the Accurian, with HDMI port and identical front panel controls. The R-S 16-3499 HTS-6000 Accurian was clearly produced by Digital Stream per R-S specs, adding the HDMI port. The pdf file "Document Properties" for the Accurian Owners Manual says it was created Oct2004, just a few months after the HD3150 manual. You can clearly see the Digital Stream logo, the R-S part number and the Thomson DTF8600 tuner module in the fol pictures: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=6155877&#post6155877 FYI: Here is the link to the DTF86xx, showing the use of an ATSC Decoder chip that has RECTANGULAR shape....whatever that may be... http://www.thomson.net/EN/Home/MiniSites/Display/TunersRFSolutions/ModelDetail.html?category=Digital%20Terrestrial%20Tuners%20NIMs&model=DTF86XX Hence, I would conclude that the Accurian is probably similiar if not identical to the HD3150PLUS (and HD3150 without HDMI). Whether or not it includes the DTF86xx tuner module would be of interest.... And who makes a RECTANGULAR ATSC Decoder chip... <holl_ands> =================================================== "Manfredi, Albert E" <albert.e.manfredi@xxxxxxxxxx> wrote: Digitalstream HD 1150 Intyriguing, and at a regular price of only $189. Not bad. This is the lowest regular price I've seen so far. Although last holiday season, I did see prices as low as $199, so the downward movement wasn't as much as I had predicted. This box has both NTSC and ATSC reception, and it's also from Korea, which promises well. (Note that Adobe Acrobat will ask you if you want to install Korean fonts. Say yes, or you won't get the document.) http://im1.onecall.com/Image_Products/DigitalStream/STB_HD1100E.pdf I noticed that the on-screen menu looks very similar, although not identical, to the one from my Accurian, which perhaps means it's also a Humax box. (Or maybe not, I don't know if there's some sort of standard GUI used by multiple vendors.) All the setup steps and options seem identical to the Accurian, with the addition of a "fine tune" function for NTSC reception. Not sure whether any stores carry this, it seems readily available on the web, at www.onecall.com. A positive sign. Wouldn't it be nice to know what's in it?
