And holding on to "linear streams," both Craig and the FCC, is equally
meaningless. As we have seen. It is now less than half of TV viewing, as
reported by two sources I just posted, and losing popularity every passing
month.

According to the Delloitt report you linked to, linear is still 71% of TV
viewing. Stop cherry picking stats that do not reflect the total picture. But
more important, stop trying to convince Moonves and company that their linear
business is going to disappear.

It may decline as part of the total, but it will not go away.

Of course not, Craig, and I explained to you many times why this makes Sling
TV different from MVPDs.

It is still a MVPD service, delivered over the Internet.

But nor is Dish begging the FCC for any special favors, like a new definition
of MVPD. That's the important point, which you miss. Dish went ahead, asking
no questions to the FCC, no favors, nothing.

Do you think he FCC just decided on day that the definition of a MVPD is now
outdated? Clearly they are reacting to real world events and most likely
requests from every side of this issue. All you need to do is read the
introduction the the NPRM to understand the FCC's motivation.

We already know what a VMVPD service is,

Nope. You just finished saying it's not defined.

The services exist Bert. What is yet to be finish is the FCC report and order.

The FCC is falling behind on this, just as you are, Craig. But the important
point is, the CEOs don't care. They are acting on their own self-interests,
and they have understood quite well that online, on demand, unwalled, are
where they need to go. So like I said many times, the linear stream
requirement is simple anachronistic and becoming more and more irrelevant.

Linear streams are what the FCC has the authority to regulate.

Craig
