But by your own admission, most of the cord cutters did not watch
ESPN anyway.

The take-away is, ESPN is losing a lot of welfare income, so they have to
branch out. The leverage they used to have, by being exclusive to a monopoly
non-neutral delivery pipe, was taken away with this new Internet thing.

No Bert. It is because many of the shows I watch are ONLY
available via the big MVPD bundles.

Sounds like a personal problem. Addicts are their own worst enemies.

Sling is trying to build a new walled garden at a lower price
point,

Huh? Do you know how the Internet works, Craig? A web site cannot block you
from reaching other web sites. They can't be a walled garden if you can walk
out of that garden anytime you please. You can break out of your present walled
garden, and you can go to Sling. You still have access to ESPN. And you also
have access to a world of Internet content.

They are playing hard to get.

They are not, but if they were, it's their prerogative! When you're losing
millions of monthly welfare checks, you have to try to compensate. You don't
compensate by playing hard to get.

But you are ignoring why those stations went dark. Both Dish
and Sinclair stated they had reached terms for the retrans
consent fees for the stations. But Sinclair was demanding
carriage of an unspecified cable network that they do not
own yet.

Come now, Craig. Get out of this MVPD mindset. This is really painful.

Let's assume for a second that Sinclair morphs into a CDN, or that the networks
themselves distribute their own material over the Internet, WHO IN ^%$& COULD
POSSIBLY BLACK THEM OUT? If they go dark, it's only hurting themselves. It's
the same as OTA TV. If an O&O goes dark, it doesn't gain them anything.
