Maybe for that one specific example, you might be right. But in general,
you are not.

Early receivers, for example, do not do 8K COFDM. Nor were they
particularly adept at managing pre-echo. So it is simply not true that
you can switch to any other mode and all will work.

Oh, you mean, like when the BBC will introduce HDTV? All receivers will
be able to use that?
