Just as >they do for >every other show on television. Uhhhhh. I think the point is that Nightline portrays itself as a News show, with as is the case for nearly every news program today a healthy dose of analysis. As noted already, there was no news in this broadcast. And the analysis, for once, was left to the viewer. Those who support the was may have come away with the view that ABC was using to spin the broadcast..."we are honoring our fallen heros." Those who do not support the war may have come away filled with even more hatred..."that these brave men and women died in vain, or worse that they died to advance the causes of special interests here at home." And all who watched were left guessing about the Disney agenda in this, as if it was not completely obvious. Sinclair took a stand - something that all local broadcasters need to do much more often, if they are going to fulfill their obligations as gatekeepers and public servants. I don't think that Sinclair shot themselves in the foot.. it was more like a warning shot across the bow of one of those Disney Cruise Line ships that operate out of Port Canaveral. The conglomerates are shooting themselves in THEIR foot, being so blatantly political, in the guise of "the news." Of course, have of the country disagrees with me about this... ;-( Regards Craig ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can UNSUBSCRIBE from the OpenDTV list in two ways: - Using the UNSUBSCRIBE command in your user configuration settings at FreeLists.org - By sending a message to: opendtv-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word unsubscribe in the subject line.
