Even if the Internet takes over the distribution task, this does not translate to no more broadcast TV. Whether I watch broadcast TV in real time, or time-shifted via my PVR, or as live streams or time-shifted over the Internet, what I'm watching is unquestionably broadcast TV.

A very LIBERAL definition!

I was obviously referring to Over-The-Air transmissions.

One could go a step further and talk about broadcasting as filling a pipe with programming, although this is actually a "network" not a broadcast.

What will the future hold?

Clearly people will continue to consume content.

Loyalty to a network has been declining for decades (when one refers to the legacy Broadcast Networks). Loyalty to special interest MVPD networks ebbs and flows. In the end its all about accessing What You Want to Watch, NOT what THEY want you to watch.

The value of networks "may" be significantly diminished in a world where consumers can access everything on an ala carte basis.
