TV Guide made the changes because it has been losing subscribers for years due to: * EPGs in cable, DBS, and even the former Gemstar that is now TVGuide built into some sets * Local newspapers have complete daily listings and a weekly book in the Sunday edition * Most of their (remaining) subscribers told TV Guide that they read the rag for the articles, not for the listings, which are available via the above. TV Guide has the non-interactive EPG (TV Guide Channel) on most cable systems, the (NTSC) OTA EPG that most Public Television Stations broadcast and most RCA TVs and vcrs have built-in, and they provide listing information to the local newspapers. The Magazine has become a competitor to their own other products. I never much cared for it myself, because at least for my area it covered such a wide geographic area that each time slot had 30+ listings, half of which were out of my market.
