However, most folks in most cities with high VHF stations will get them fine with UHF only antennas. Note that I said cities, not far rural. Our local Ch. 9 DTV station recently appeared, and at 23 miles from town it gives huge signals on all UHF antennas which do have "unterminated" dipoles, such as Radio Shack double bowties. I do not get a big signal from a cut-to-channel UHF Yagi with a "300 ohm style" driven element that is of course essentially a short at VHF, though it still does barely work.
