I'm not exactly in the market for a new phone yet but have been
following the HTC Touch Diamond 2. This will have a 480x800 resolution
and I expect other vendors to follow.

Even for lower rez source a upscaled display can look better. And I
have discovered I like reading books on my current windows mobile HTC
phone so want the slightly larger and more detailed screen. I expect
even pocket devices to eventually all have at least 720p resolution and
eventually many/most will also be able to operate as small projectors.
