COFDM is not imported technology. The fundamental patents are all 
owned by U.S. companies.

ATSC is imported. We let the consumer electronics companies control 
the standard setting process. Most of the royalties go to 
corporations outside the U.S. (Columbia University and MIT are part 
of the royalty pool along with GI/Motorola. The transmission patents 
belong to LG).
