I believe that Zenith introduced such a product last year. However, their web page indicates that no STB DVR is currently available. The big surprise was that no STB HDTV receiver is available. -----Original Message----- From: opendtv-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:opendtv-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Manfredi, Albert E Sent: Friday, October 28, 2005 11:38 AM To: opendtv@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [opendtv] Re: White paper from CEA Craig Birkmaier wrote: > It is MUCH EASIER to record programs using an EPG and a > PVR than a VCR. > > Get with the program man! Huh?? When reasonably priced and good recording devices with integrated ATSC receivers become available, such as DVDRs or maybe PVRs with 5th gen LG or better receiver, which make use of PSIP, of course that's what I'd buy. Until then, I'm certainly not going to become dependent on some proprietary dial-in scheme with monthly fee. That's crazy. Recording is far too trivial a job to warrant that kind of dependency.
