The vast majoerity of TV, worldwide, is watched via an antenna.
I was thinking about that last night. As telecommuting is becoming much more
necessary in Europe, what with businesses shut down, ISP nets are noticing
stress. In the US, where everybody streams more than anything else, I have not
heard of such problems. The networks have had to have enough capacity, for when
people got home from work, or on weekends and holidays.
If Europe responds to this COVID-19 by improving Internet capacity, will the
trend to streaming pick up there too? There's little doubt that video streaming
is what created the big push for increasing ISP net capacity, in the US.
My sister, in Rome, still watches TV by appointment, with an antenna, the old
fashioned way.
Plus, Alan, I wanted to tell you how BBC World Service, streamed over the
Internet, has long been my go-to 24-hour news source. Sounds just as good as
the best local radio. And the BBC even quit shortwave broadcasting to North
America! Many years ago.
Very nice to see you digitally again, Alan.
Bert
