Hi there,
I have a question. I love the "Social Reading Experience" on the
facebook page form the makers of the IOS game "Lone Wolf".
I have a 10 year old sun who likes to read, but can't read english.
I bet there are a lot more. Therefore I'd like to to somthing like the
Social Reading Experience, but in Dutch. I would like to start with the
first book. Translate, start a poll, and then let the dutch people
decide where to go.
May I do this? Cause I don't want any troubles according to
copyrighths or something.

Sorry to take so long to get back to you. I wasn't aware of the Social
Reading Experience and I had to search for it to see what it was:

It seems similar to the "Let's Play" threads that appear on certain
forums where the section text is posted and then multiple players to
vote to see which option should be selected.
I have been searching through my copious archive of E-mails because Joe
Dever did actually contact us about this once, but I can't lay my hands
on his comments right now. Basically, I think he said it was acceptable
as long as the whole book wasn't reproduced (meaning only the sections
the readers select get posted). So, assuming my memory isn't horribly
faulty, your idea of translating the text into Dutch before posting the
section shouldn't pose a problem--as long as you're only posting the
sections the readers select.
Of course, a link back to the Project Aon site, explaining that the
books are legally and freely available in English, would also be a nice
gesture. ;-)
Thanks again for your interest in Project Aon. Many volunteers have
spent many hours of their free time working on making these available,
and knowing that others are reading them allows us to feel that our hard
work was worth it! :-)
