Subject: Volunteering opportunities?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am interested in helping out. I have a three month holiday starting in
November with not much to do. I work as a research assistant at uni and I have
proofreading experience. I have a very meticulous attitude and I thoroughly
enjoy the old school pencil, and paper RPGs.
Thank you in advance for addressing my enquiry.
Hi Jim
Sorry this response took so long.
Thank you for your offer of help. We're always in need of proofreaders, editors, coders, tecchies, and the like at Project Aon.
Firstly, do you have access to any of the books? If so, that would be a great help. If not, don't worry: you can still contribute!
If you have any of the books (18-28, Freeway warrior 2-4) if you could read through them page by page, noting each discrepancy, typo, inconsistent style, rules ambiguity or problem, that would be extremely useful. It would also allow you to work through as many of the books as you can fit into your three-month holiday.
If you do not own any of the books, proofreading/editing is still possible. We are looking to get the text of the next gamebook(s) we plan to work on available to download soon. This text would require editing.
The best way to volunteer for such things would be to join the Volunteer Mailing List here: <http://www.projectaon.org/en/Sanctum/Howto-join>. Once you are subscribed, you would want to post an introductory E-mail stating that you are available to help out and what you would like to do.
You would also want to review the duties of an editor here: <http://www.projectaon.org/en/Sanctum/Howto-edit>. Note that an editor does not actually change anything, they merely report the issues to the mailing list for discussion.
Once again, thank you for your offer of help. I hope to "see" you soon on the mailing list.
For Sommerlund and the Kai!
