Subject: Volunteering to help
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Project Aon team,
I would like to help with Project Aon, in any capacity. Looking specifically at
your 'how-to'
guide, I would be happy to transcribe text, though I do not possess the word
recognition software
you mention. I also have a great deal of experience with proofreading. I
believe I could be
helpful here.
I realise that it is unlikely, but should you need anything translating, I am
also a capable
French - English translator. I see, for example, that 'Le Grimoire' is
publishing original
material in French for the Lone Wolf RPG. Though, admittedly, this may have no
bearing on your
work.
Having put the first twenty Lone Wolf books on your site, I presume you are now
moving onto the
New Order books. I currently possess books 21, 22, 23, 25 and 27.
Please let me know if you feel I could be of assistance.
Best regards,
Paul Gresty.
Hi Paul
Thank you for your offer or help. We appreciate all the help we can receive from our fellow Lone Wolf fans, particularly as we start work on the New Order series. Few volunteers seem to have access to these rare books, so your offer of help is most timely. Please join the volunteers' mailing list.
Some of the How-to guides are a little out of date. We have completed the Transcribing and Proofreading stages for all of the books, and made a start on editing them. As you can see from the How-to section on editing for Project Aon, that is basically the same as proofreading--you don't need to make any changes to the text, but rather post any problems that you find to the mailing list where they can be discussed.
Unfortunately, since the French-language editions of the gamebooks and the RPG are still in print, we are unable to offer a French translation of Project Aon at this time.
We look forward to working with you on the rare New Order books. We are beavering away at Book 21 right now, and we will soon have a pre-release edition ready for playtesting purposes. The more volunteers that can help us by playtesting this and reporting back any problems they spot, the better our edition will be.
For Sommerlund and the Kai!
