Thanks also Tim for this. Ok I need to read all this stuff ... (I know I had my phone a few days - at the most, and got the software update notification for 5.1 but I am not sure how the battery was before I did the update as I was having difficulty with regards ITunes registration account) Anyway; Thanks guys, Sabrina -----Original Message----- From: vicsireland-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:vicsireland-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Tim Culhane Sent: 28 November 2011 15:23 To: vicsireland@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [vicsireland] Re: IPhone battery question Hi, There is an article on the battery issue at the below link. It implies that a fix might be available by the end of this year. http://www.appolicious.com/articles/10255 Tim -----Original Message----- From: vicsireland-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:vicsireland-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Redmond, Noel Sent: 28 November 2011 15:16 To: 'vicsireland@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: [vicsireland] Re: IPhone battery question Hi Sabrina I don't think so, there are pages on it on one of the forums, but the company have said that there is a problem and they will be fixing it with a patch update to the OS. Have a look at the following link. http://news.sky.com/home/technology/article/16103087 There is another link in this article, go into this and you will see more than 400 pages about this problem. Have a look at the first few pages, but there are no answers yet. The further into this you look, you will see that people are trying everything but there is no definitive answers. Sorry for the bad news, but the update should not be much longer. If your phone is less than 14 days old, talk to your provider to see what they suggest doing. Yes it is the IPhone4S So is there anything I could do? Some people are only getting 20 hours out of the phone with each charge. The only "stop button" I can locate is if I am actually streaming a station and I want to stop listening to it. So perhaps, it was "the overuse" of the phone that was causing my battery to drain over the past few days or so. It just takes a bit of practicing but it is difficult to make these instructions any clearer. It is trial and error and a few times I ended up moving apps instead of deleting them. Since the other night I uninstalled Viber and once I gave my phone a full charge using the plug charger and made the following changes my battery life went back to normal again. The minute I unplugged it I turned off the Wifi by going in to settings, scrooled down to Wifi and double tapped on it. Then I navigated to Wifi on and double tapped on it. Then I navigated up the screen and selected Wifi off. . Then I went back to settings, scrooled to 3G and turned it on. Then I went back to settings and turned on Wifi and then went back to settings and turned off 3G. In summary the steps I follow are: Turn off Wifi, turn on 3G, turn on Wifi and turn off 3G. If they aren't followed in this order it doesn't work for me. Usually when I charge the phone from the computer I have to do these steps, otherwise the useage under settings and general ends up being the same as the stand by time even if you weren't using the phone all this time. I usually get around 3 days out of my battery. I am using the iPhone 3GS so these instructions mightn't work for the newer versions of the iPhone or some of the options might be in different places. Also when I install most apps I don't allow notifications as I find it drains the battery as well but you can't use Viber with the notifications being on which is really annoying as it is a brilliant app. Other tips that will help save battery: When you buy an iPhone first usually 3G and bluetooth are turned on by default. I always turn these off and only turn them on when I am using them, otherwise if you go in to settings, general, useage and stand by the useage and stand by will be the same which shouldn't be the case. Hope this helps.
