Hi John,
At the risk of sounding cynical, Dell, HP, Toshiba, it's all pretty much the
same.
I would recommend going for the one that gives you the best bang for your buck
in terms of processor, memory and hard drive. And taking into account any size
and weight preferences you might have of course. I've always liked Dell laptops
but have a HP now for work that is very nice too.
Happy shopping,
Dave

Hi John.
I must say I'm extremely happy with my Dell laptop, which my brother got for
me at the start of last year, I.e. Jan 2015. It's so fast compared to my
previous Toshiba machines, since my previous laptop had something close to
0.90 gig ram, and my new one has 8 gig. I know my brother and his friend
somehow physically put in that extra ram into my machine, since I was advised
I'd need at least 4 gig for windows 7 to run properly. I'm not sure how much
you need for win 8 or 10 though, but it might be worth your while to ask them
in the shop if they could increase your ram, so that your assistive
technology can work properly. In my humble opinion, it's definitely worth a
few extra bob to pay the gal's and lads in the shop, so that your assistive
software could run properly and so that your computer performance could be
quick and efficient. I'm afraid I don't know how much my brother paid for
both my laptop and the extra memory though, as 1. it was a gift for
Christmas/new year, and 2. my brother got it in Greece, as he lives there,
and back then, he used to work in Dell, so he got a staff discount. I also
got a 2 year warranty, and although my bag with the papers got stolen
shortly after my return back home to Ireland last January, I did get a chance
to take a note of my tag number and express code, in case I ever do need to
take my laptop to Dell for repairs here.
I do hope this helps somewhat.
All the best and God bless.
Maria.
