Hi Joan Ann I can think of 3 reasons for this: 1: region. DVDs encoding is split in regions: US, Europe, Asia, Etc. (See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_region_codes for more info). Most DVD players can play for only one region, so I would guess your DVD is not for Europe. If it is not, there is a piece of software (34 euro) called anydvd (http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvd.html) that would allow you to play DVDs from any regions. I think they have a tryout version. If your DVD is for region 2 (Europe), then see below. 2: dvd type (+r -r) Some DVD players can only play DVD +R or -R. If your DVD is a copy on one of those media types, problem could be your DVD player (it is physical). I have seen some DVD players where the firmware could be updated, but it is a risky business. 3: driver issue. That depends on your computer and operating system.
