Hi Joan Ann

I can think of 3 reasons for this:

1: region.
DVDs encoding is split in regions: US, Europe, Asia, Etc. (See
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_region_codes for more info).

Most DVD players can play for only one region, so I would guess your DVD is
not for Europe. If it is not, there is a piece of software (34 euro) called
anydvd (http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvd.html) that would allow you to play
DVDs from any regions. I think they have a tryout version.

If your DVD is for region 2 (Europe), then see below.

2: dvd type (+r -r)
Some DVD players can only play DVD +R or -R. If your DVD is a copy on one of
those media types, problem could be your DVD player (it is physical). I have
seen some DVD players where the firmware could be updated, but it is a risky
business.

3: driver issue. That depends on your computer and operating system.

Regards

Claude
