I came across this on another list and thought some people might find it useful.
Robobraille offer a useful service that
converts your docs, no matter what format, into mp3 speech which you can
listen to on any mp3 player, etc.
Method:
Simply send a new message to
britspeech@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
with your text file
as an attachment. After about 15 minutes you will be sent an email informing
you that your text file is converted and a link at which to retrieve your
mp3 file. Clicking on this link will take you to the robobraille site and
the file will automatically play in your default player. Choose save under
the file menu and save it to where you want to.
I would recommend the
britspeech@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
speech engine. This uses
RealSpeak. The
usspeech@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
uses Sam from windows XP.
