Hi Mairead,

You have raised an interesting topic to which I'd like the answer also, I am considering purchasing an iphone and I'd hope that this would be one fo the reasons it might be useful. Now you have me thinking. You Should Talk to Pat McCarthy or if you want his phone number I can give it to you off list. Pat being one of us has covered this area with the iphone and might have some suggestions. let me know if you want his phone number as there hasn't been much come back so far. Some might say if one has a guide dog what do you want all the gismos for, but there is a debate here about the value of the add ons i.e. technology. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mairead O Mahony" <maireadomahony@xxxxxxxxx>

Subject: [vicsireland] Trekker Breeze

Hi all,
I am thinking of purchasing a Trekker Breeze but have a few questions
about it. I used one for a little bit on a mobility lesson, recorded
land marks and had them red back to me when I passed them on my root.
I didn't get to record a root yet so I am not sure how this would be
different from hearing land marks that I recorded on root. If I
recorded a root and used that root while I waswalking and recorded
something like once at gate, indent to end of grass and cross at a
particular point, e.g. shop would it read this out the next time I
approach the shop on root? Is there a limit to the length of a note
you can record on the root?

I have tried using iPhone GPS apps but could never figure them out and
find it easier to press buttons rather than locate things on a touch
screen when out. I would also appreciate it if people could give me
their opinion on using Trekker Breeze and iPhone apps and if I would
need to pay any subscription fees on the Breeze.

Thanks in advance
Mairead O Mahony
