Subject: [vicsireland] Volunteers sought for Braille reading experiment

Dear All,

Fluent Braille readers might be interested in the below notice.

Regards,

Stuart.

********************

Volunteers sought:
A group of researchers from the Department of Computer Science at NUI Maynooth are looking for a number of subjects to take part in an experimental study of Braille reading. The aim of the experiment is to gather detailed data from visually impaired, fluent readers of Braille. Subjects will be asked to read a series of short texts from a refreshable Braille display and from Braille printed paper. The experiment will take place during 11-14 May at NCBI head office on Whitworth Road, Dublin 9.

A session should take no more than one hour and subjects will be paid €10 per hour along with any reasonable travel expenses.

If you are a fluent Braille reader and would like to assist with this piece of research in to the perceptions of how the Braille reader interprets image from finger to brain, please let Niamh Connolly know and she will pass on your contact details to the research team. You can contact Niamh at niamh.connolly@xxxxxxx
