How to Stop File Explorer Sorting by Week and Month
After the recent update Windows file explorer is now grouping items by day,
week and month. I do not want this. I want the old way back please. How do
I get rid of this new sorting? I hope this is not going to be like what
happened to media folders where they now display metadata columns instead of
name,
date, size, type and even if you change them the next time you open the folder
it has reverted back to metadata columns.
Update: I worked out that Group By must be set to none. How do I make this
default so it doesn't revert back? I'd also like to stop my media folders
reverting
back to the old way too so they show name, date, size, type instead of Artist,
Album, Title etc

There is no bug. Someone at Microsoft just managed to apply their default
folder setting to everyone that installs the update.
To turn off file grouping feature:
list of 4 items
1.
Open a folder that is Grouping by/sorting using week and month.
2.
Right Click in the folder
3.
Select 'Group by'
4.
Select '(None)'

I still have Paul's email about changing the view menu but it seems to have
changed.
When I type left alt and v pn I get a error sound.
Have I changed something?

No, you are missing the point of the question or rather not seeing it for what
it is. Tim's update or reconfig done by someone else who changed the folder
properties in explorer to show a different view. So that one has to go into the
folder properties in explorer and change the view properties to none rather
than day/week. This is similar to when different people set up outlook and
either by design or error set up the view incorrectly. I have done this myself
with outlook and spent hours trying to correct it. I still have a email from
The God of I.T. god rest him Paul Trayner explaining how to set up views in
outlook.

I think I may be on an older version of Windows 10.
In my version I go into File Explorer with Windows E. I choose a drive by
entering alt d and entering the letter . I then press shift F10 to get the
context menu which has sort by options .

My work laptop has been upgraded to a more recent Windows 10 version.
However, now when in Windows Explorer the items are sorted by day
and week etc.
I want to return to the sorting of the items by date but not divided
into day / week / monthand so on.
Anybody know how I can do this?
