Hi Tony,

This will work for the voice clips on files and directories. However,
the speech rate you can't change is that used for navigating the menus.

This is pre recorded.

Tim

Hi John,

From hartgen.org:

How to Adjust the Speech Rate of Generated Clips

Some users may find that the speech prompts generated are spoken too
slowly to serve as an efficient means of folder and file navigation. It
will therefore
be necessary to speed up the rate of speech. Note that simply changing the
rate of speech within the "Control Panel" is not sufficient to achieve
this
process.

- Locate the folder on the computer's hard disk containing the Voicebox
files.

- Find the file entitled "Voiceboxutils.vbs".

- Activate the Context Menu for this file by pressing the Context Menu
keystroke or Shift+F10.

- Select the "Edit" menu item and press Enter. The file opens in Notepad.

- Locate the line entitled "spkr.Rate = 1".

- Change the value of 1 to a higher rate, for example 5 or 10.
Experimentation will be required to gain a speech rate which is acceptable
to you.

- Save the file, then run the Voicebox utility in the usual way.

Achieve this, and you've sorted your Voicebox issue, and you've also
become a Visual Basic programmer - yayyyy!

Best wishes,

Tony

Hi John,

If you press and hold the joyce stick either left or right you will
rewind or fast forward through a track. Note that the longer you hold it
the fast the rate of movement gets.

The voices are pre recorded, so if you want slower voices you will need to
download a different voice file.

Subject: [vicsireland] i audio

hi all,

I have a few questions in relation to the i audio x5 and 7.

first, is it possible in the x5 to skip through a track, i have tried a
few
things
but if i am on track one and want to skip to the middle of that track all
i
get is
the next track. also is it possible to slow down the speed of the voice.

Now a question on the i audiox7 does rockbox work on this, has anyone got
it and if so is it as good as the x5?

Thanks in advance.

John.
