Just a couple of  questions:
 
1.  what version of jaws?
 
2.  is it correct you are using a lap top?
 
3.  has  this problem just started, or was it always there?

Try hitting jaws key plus escape, this will refresh the screen. I find this
works for me in similar situations to the one you describe. Not sure why it
happens though, something to do with Jaws getting confused with the info
being displayed.
