Hi Maria,

You can activate the eircom connection you use as if you wanted to
establish a connection to the internet then before the modem connects
successfully you can press the escape key and the connection will come up so
that you can tab through it and uncheck the auto dial feature. You will need
to go into the start menu, then settings, network connections and press
enter on your dial-up connection in order to begin establishing a
connection.

Paul.

Subject: [vicsireland] problem with my network connection

Hi folks.

I wonder if someone could help me out with the following problem.

In the past when I'd go into either my outlook express or internet
explorer, I'd always get a message on the screen telling me to select a
service I want to connect to and then enter my user name and password. I
then had an option of either connecting by pressing alt C or working off
line by pressing alt O.

For the last 2 or 3 days however, every time I go into outlook express or

internet explorer, my connection just starts dialling automatically.

Now I don't remember checking the connect automatically checkbox. I might
have done that by accident however and never noticed, but that's very
unlikely.

I removed 15 critical objects of spyware last night so that could have
messed up my settings as well.

I was wondering though if anyone could possibly tell me how can I disable
the automatic connection to the internet.
I use jaws 4.51, windows XP home addition and utv internet.

Any help or advice would be most welcome.

Thanks in advance,
Maria.
