A change I've made recently is to no longer include the the "Yoshimi is
starting" message. The fact that you can see the image tends to make that
redundant! Also it no longer gives Jack and Alsa failure messages. These are
also redundant as they have had their own alert messages for some time.

We now have the ability to generate screens from SVG files created in Inkscape
so if there is enough interest we could call for fresh ideas.

To be shamelessly honest ;), I HATE the splash screen, with that curly
staff system and coloured notes it looks like it's made for a children's
ear-training app, IMHO...
I don't know that whole yoshimi and flaming lips story, but I've made
photos in Teotihuacan when I was there in 1996/7.
I'm no graphics designer, but there's an idea I had since a while:
The pink robot part of the splash screen pretty much reminds me of the
numerous reliefs of the rain-god Tlaloc there, see

If that's an idea to follow, I can supply scans of the pics I have (I
hope I haven't lost the scans I've made once long ago), if you can't
find CC'd photographs
