You will need to run a2jmidid to expose the midithrough to jack then

        MidiLayer is a dropdown, so I can't screen shot it, but it
        only shows the new Impact port (my keyboard) and the
        MidiThrough as output options.
        Curiously though, as you can see in the second screen shot,
        MIDI layer creates extra inputs. Perhaps that's the problem?

            Never used midilayer. Does it use alsa midi or jack midi?
            Do you have yoshimi
            configured for the same?

            Do you start yoshimi first? If not, do you set yoshimi to
            look for
            midilayer when it starts?
