Segfaults are _always_ an item to be eliminated. The one you're describing has
been on the list for improvement for quite some time. I think what happens is
that, since a reasonable workaround exists (ie, don't *do* that!), I never
quite get around to going after it. Nor does anyone else apparently.

One other question: At times yoshimi has crashed, just frozen up. It happened
when I was loading it with a number of instruments all driven by rosegarden - I
think only then but am not sure. Is there any chance of making it degrade
elegantly, where it would not fully crash or freeze across all instruments but
just stop one or more? I assume not but have to ask.
Sounds reasonable. If I could reproduce the crash, chances are I could improve
the way it handles the situation. Until I can reproduce it, I'm just guessing,
so there are finite limits as to how much time and effort I'm likely to sink
into re-engineering things to defend against issues that at face value look
like they might just be local system shortcomings.
