Thanks guys :)

There are two things that would be really helpful.

The first is for people to load up an 'empty' Yoshimi, and in the CCs tab make
sure 'Bank Change' is set to MSB and 'Enable On Load' is checked. Finally, in
'Bank root dirs' set the default to the one supplied with Yoshi (I really must
find a way to make this the first-time default).

If you have Rosegarden, running the .rg file (in Tests) should should enable and
play all the parts. You'll also be able to see when the changes come. For any
other sequencer there is the .mid version, although it may not be so easy to
see what is supposed to happen.

... or just create a file of your own and see what happens :)

The other thing is to check out the audio routing now available in 'Panel'. So
far, I've run a number of files with up to 10 tracks, with some going to
'Main', some to 'Part' and some to 'Both'. I've tested with the jack routing
connected, without, and going via Rakarrack for additional effects.

I'm sure some of you can think of other obscure routings :p

Will's on fire!

Looking forward to using the new improved Yoshimi in my music :)

Another update to the master branch and I'm calling this a release candidate
now. There have been a lot of improvements since 1.2.1

The latest is that I've reinstated gzip compression on instruments and
parameter sets. If, for some reason, you don't want that, simply change the
level to 0 in settings. The default is 3, which is the same as it originally
was. The reason Cal disabled it is no longer relevant as the bug in zlib has
long ago been fixed. Those with SSDs won't really notice a difference, but it
will improve save, and subsequent load times on old spinning rust. Exisiting
uncompressed files will still load as before.

I think I've finally got parameter save messages making sense. If you've just
stepped though them without making any changes, when you close Yoshi it will
just quietly save things like the latest files history.

The setting window now has 'Save and Close' or 'Close Unsaved'. There seems
little point in saving settings but keeping the window open - as previously.
If
you save and close the settings window, then again, when quitting Yoshi it
will
do so silently. However, if you've closed without saving, then when quitting
you
will be given the choice of saving and quitting, quitting without saving or
cancelling so you can look at the changes before deciding.

I'm going to leave this to settle for a while now, so please give it a good
workout.

For those who may not know, the way to get the current master is
(making sure you have git installed):

git clone git://yoshimi.git.sourceforge.net/gitroot/yoshimi/yoshimi

Then switch to the yoshim/src directory and do the usual
ccmake .
cmake .
make

Meanwhile I'm going to make a determined effort to grab C++ by the tail :o
