I've now moved out all .xmz files, leaving only .xiz. Some of the directories
hold .bankdir files, others not.
Interestingly, the olivers-100 bank shows if I set the bank root directory to
the folder holding all of the banks ".../zyn-banks", and not if I point it to
".../zyn-banks/olivers-100".
Also, some of the instruments that did not show inside Yoshimi previously,
now show if I number them 0001 etc. Before they did not show at all (even at
the end of the bank window like you say).
So it looks like the only solution to this would be going through all the
banks, numbering every file (or make a script)

I recently double checked, and you're right. Yoshimi doesn't show un-numbered
instruments. I don't know when or why that happened, but these days neither
Zyn nor Yoshi will create them without numbers so I'm inclined to think it's a
once off situation and probably not worth doing much about it.
