Hello Cal,

Parts and MIDI channels are more or less bound to one another by default
so I understand the point (part 1 is midi channel 1 by default and so
on). So I think this might be a good idea actually.

[ ...]

Plus 1. midi channel per part makes sense. so the user only needs to
pick the right channel, then apply bank and patch changes in the
selected channel. (Provided Yoshimi 'hears' the midi channel change,
and the appropriate part is then made visible and editable via bank
and patch changes.)

Thank you Jeremy & Alex. Any given Part can still be assigned to any given midi
channel, so a program change based strictly on midi channel will affect all
Parts
assigned that midi channel. If I go this way, then a program change will only
affect the part number identified by the midi channel parameter. They're
different,
and I think I prefer the program change -> explicit part approach.

... and then there's the issue of presenting a program change in all the right
places plus presenting a cohesive gui for managing program banks. So far that's
not _too_ horror movie, just a long, slow grind.
cheers.
