I hadn't thought about this 'til now - with your fltk2 situation, do you
really need a build without any reference to fltk? I'd only thought about
a --no-gui command line flag. Could you get by with that, or would you
really
need the former, ie, no fltk reference at all?

I am no expert, but i guess it is not going to work anyway with fltk2
but as you said, fltk issues are not really your business for now, so I will
find a way to downgrade fltk+glibc

Way back when I first started this, were a few things that felt like "I
never
use this, I'll never need it". And it's making a horrible mess of the
code, or
worse, it's slowing things down, might as well get rid of it. The --no-gui
capability is just one of those that needs to go back in.

I am no dev neither, so wont look at the code, but if the --no-gui is a
mess, maybe my request isn't smart.
Either a run-time or compile time option would suit me, just do as you think
is best

thanks again
