Hi Mike

It is great that we have so many choices nowadays, and I commend Apple for its
accessibility of products right out of the box.  But VoiceOver is the only
screenreader you can use, and that is personally too locked down for me.  I
think Microsoft should be up there with Narrator, but it isn't what I would
call a fully fledged screenreader at this time.  Whether it will become that
remains to be seen.

As Terry says, what Jonathan and Brian before him have both written isn't new,
but it is a personal perspective that I largely share.  The spec of my Dell
would cost so much more if it were an Apple device with a lot less
connectivity.  But if someone is of the Apple mind-set, then I guess paying
over the odds for their products won't deter purchasers.

It is an interesting discussion, but one that is very personal, and nobody is
wrong.

Kind Regards,

Jackie Brown

Hi Jackie,

I’m fortunate to have been able to afford both, but I still sometimes wonder
whether I should have chosen a high-spec laptop like yours. My old PC is
getting rather tired.

Best wishes,

Mike

have a Mac, but I don't enjoy using it.  I appreciate I am nowhere
near as clued up on it as I am in Windows, and I admit that this
influences my thinking.  I have just purchased a Dell XPS13, but the
equivalent spec on a Macbook Pro would have cost me easily £600 more, and
offered me a lot less connectivity.

I appreciate it is all subjective, and if you Mac guys are happy with
your lot, then good for you.  But I would never be drawn away from
Windows on a full-time basis no matter what problems I come up against.

Hi Mo,

Ably backed up by this article too:-

I don't believe that in a working environment, Voiceover is nearly
good enough, compared to Windows screen readers.

All the best

Steve

Hi.
This is a very well written article which I found very interesting.
