Ok good choice,   can you give the make and roughly the cost with thanks.

back when the new ones came out as the price of the old ones always fall
significantly. I was really looking forward to getting to grips with Mac OS
and to the integration with my iPhone.

How wrong we were. The cost Went up by a hundred pounds. I was so enraged I
ordered a Windows machine at an even higher cost but with much better specs:
7i processor, 16GB ram, 500GB SSD, 1TB hard drive all in a 15 inch very slim
laptop! I already have JFW 18.

I'm glad I didn't get that Mac.

I can understand why Mac or Apple users are described in this way.  I don't
think anyone is being personal towards you, Ian, but it is just that Apple
users are so fierce in their defence of Apple in the blindness community
that they have earned this reputation.  If you have ever been subscribed to
a Mac list, you will perhaps understand where that saying comes from.

This is an interesting and valid discussion only spoiled by those of us
prefer Macs being referred to by the derogatory term “Fan boys” and the
assumption that we’ll be down on anyone who disagrees with us.  Throughout
my career I’ve advocated and campaigned for choice and equality for disabled
people and would never say that everyone should make the same choices as I
do.

have a Mac, but I don't enjoy using it.  I appreciate I am nowhere
near as clued up on it as I am in Windows, and I admit that this
influences my thinking.  I have just purchased a Dell XPS13, but the
equivalent spec on a Macbook Pro would have cost me easily £600 more,
and
offered me a lot less connectivity.

I appreciate it is all subjective, and if you Mac guys are happy with
your lot, then good for you.  But I would never be drawn away from
Windows on a full-time basis no matter what problems I come up against.

Hi Mo,

Ably backed up by this article too:-

I don't believe that in a working environment, Voiceover is nearly
good enough, compared to Windows screen readers.

All the best

Steve
