Thank you, Douglas, and everyone else who has commented.  I certainly have a
lot of options to investigate, but as I've used NOD32 before, I shall
probably look at that and Smart Security first.

That's a good question!  I have only been running it for around 5 weeks and
I suppose "No
news is good news".  Like NOD32 it is very unobtrusive and seems to be doing
its job in the
background.  When I got this laptop I decided to go for Smart Security
instead of buying a
second NOD32 licence.
On my other (XP) machine I have NOD32, Spysweeper, a software firewall etc.
and I thought
that if one product would do the job i might as well keep things simple.
Time will show
whether that was a wise decision.
