Hi David,
Can you confirm it's actually haulting during the Boot/Update Installation
Process? How long have you tried leaving it?
I have very scant experience with Vista as I bypassed it and went to 7.
They are very similar in allot of instances though. Windows Updates on 7
will require you to reboot to finish updating files that are locked when the
system is running. It can take 5 or 10 minutes in some cases for the update
to complete on some systems, and then boots to Windows.
If after leaving it for say 10 or 15 minutes on the outside and it's still
not doing anything there may be a problem. Do you know or can you either
read yourself or, grab a pair of eyes to tell us what updates Vista is
trying to install and getting stuck on?

When I switch my computer on, Vista at first is loading up new updates,
but it keeps on jamming to the point that I can not switch off the
computer, unless I hold down the button to tern on the computer. Can any
