The second you power up, start tapping the F8 key. With any luck, a DOS type menu (Not Windows) will appear, and in the list is an item referring to booting up in what is called Safe Mode. Select that option. With the remotest bit of luck, the system will boot into Sagfe Mode, but you will have no speech. Ask your helper to go to Control Panel: System and then Device Manager and see if there are any red or yellow signs against any of the devices which might give you a clue as to what the problem is.
