David,

You may need to get a reasonably computer litterate pair of eyes to
hand for some help here.

The second you power up, start tapping the F8 key. With any luck, a
DOS type menu (Not Windows) will appear, and in the list is an item
referring to booting up in what is called Safe Mode. Select that
option.

With the remotest bit of luck, the system will boot into Sagfe Mode,
but you will have no speech.

Ask your helper to go to Control Panel: System and then Device Manager
and see if there are any red or yellow signs against any of the
devices which might give you a clue as to what the problem is.

George.

Subject: [access-uk] Computer jamming up

Hi,

When I switch my computer on, Vista at first is loading up new
updates, but it keeps on jamming to the point that I can not switch
off the computer, unless I hold down the button to tern on the
computer. Can any one tell me what to do as I can not access the
computer at all?

David Weston.
